Suffolk Exec. Bellone opens Democratic parley, talking up ticket

Acting as a ceremonial host, Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone opened today's state Democratic convention in Melville with a speech boosting Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo that included a partial echoing of the line that the GOP represents "extreme" conservatism. He mentioned Sandy and fiscal recovery.

It was similar to his welcome to delegates Tuesday night in which he talked of the governor "turning around a government" that was in "dysfunction" (This was hours before Cuomo named his predecessor, former Gov. David A. Paterson, as the new state party chairman).

Bellone recited the litany of four on-time budgets,  tax caps and cuts and marriage equality.
