Suffolk top Republican and Conservative leaders are appearing to line up behind County Court Judge Andrew Crecca in a Supreme Court bid, which is bad news for incumbent Republican Donald Blydenburgh, former Suffolk Legislature presiding officer.

Invitations for a $200 a head Crecca event went out last week listing both Suffolk Republican chairman John Jay LaValle and Suffolk Conservative chairman Edward Walsh as hosts for the June 21 Blackstone’s Restaurant in Melville.

Crecca has maintained that he is just looking for one of two Supreme Court spots open but Independence Party chairman Frank MacKay has made clear his party will not allow its Supreme Court Justice Ralph Costello to be dropped from the ticket. Blydenburgh could not be reached for comment.
