Tired of the endless winter snow? Suffolk Legis. Kara Hahn wants public works officials to study whether using beet-brine will help clear county roads better.

The Stony Brook Democrat has filed a proposal seeking a departmental study to report back within 90 days on the feasibility and cost of using the extract of sugar beets as a road primer as is done in some upstate communities and other states. She says  its use  could be an environmentally safe way to clear roads, reduce the need for salt and "further stretch the taxpayers' dollars."
