Suffolk Legis. Kate Browning is boycotting the majority Democratic caucus.
The Shirley lawmaker, who belongs to the Working Families Party has missed the last two caucus meetings in the aftermath of the the legislature’s votes last month to approve the sale of the Foley Nursing home and the sale of 230 county acres for the rail hub, both in Yaphank.
She said she is “less than thrilled” with the caucus because they failed to back her efforts to delay the sales, which are “issues extremely important” to her district. “I have to ask why am I in the caucus?” she said.
Asked is she plans to form her own Working Families Party caucus, Browning said, “I have to get another Working Families legislator elected first.”
