The Suffolk Legislature’s bipartisan budget committee will remain bipartisan this year.

Deputy Presiding Officer Wayne Horsley (D-Babylon) said he has enlisted Republican lawmaker Lynne Nowick of St. James to be part of the working group that hammers out changes to the county executive’s budget -- due out next week.

While there has been increasing reticence among GOP lawmakers to participate in the working group, Horsley said Nowick told him she felt it “was her responsibility to taxpayers” to serve. Nowick cannot face retribution because she is term limited and cannot run for re-election. Nowick could not be reached for immediate comment.
