Controversial and often litigious developer Robert Toussie was a big buyer in the recent county auction that netted Suffolk more than $5 million.

A list, provided as backup for a resolution approving auction sales, listed Toussie as a principal in the firm, Joy Selter LLC, for the purchase of 18 properties with a sale price totaling $639,000.

Selter was also listed as buyer of six of the properties totaling $55,10 where Toussie’s name was not listed. County officials say that Toussie himself was not present at the county auction held earlier this fall.

Toussie, once barred from county auctions because of a controversy involving the county purchase of the Chandler Estate in Mount Sinai, and a legal suit from unhappy home buyers, was allowed to return to the auctions after extensive litigation.
