Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone's aide Ben Zwirn has been cleared to take his new job at Suffolk Community College, now that the county legislature has approved the sales of the county nursing home and for the rail hub on land in Yaphank.

Zwirn is slated to start his new job Monday as the college’s coordinator of intergovernmental affairs.

Zwirn, the former North Hempstead supervisor, had been scheduled to move over to the college in July, but Bellone asked the college to delay the hiring until the county budget process was over. With the approvals of the $43 million worth of Yaphank real estate, the county executive freed Zwirn of his lobbying duties.
