Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said this is the week he will announce whether he will run for governor.
Although he has an “Astorino for Governor” campaign fund, a website that skewers Democratic Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and has been meeting with party leaders, the Republican has insisted that he hasn’t made a decision on whether to run.
Last week in Albany, Astorino said he would announce that decision by the end of this week.
“We have a healthy majority of Republican support in this state as we do in the Conservative Party,” Astorino said of his possible candidacy.
“We’ve got a long ways to go, as any challenger would,” he said. “I’m feeling very strongly the commitment will be there.”
