The guy who ran Carl Paladino’s ill-fated gubernatorial campaign in 2010 took to Twitter Wednesday to post photos of his meeting with Donald Trump.
“You’ll never know who you run into in NYC,” political consultant Michael Caputo teasingly wrote, accompanying the photo of him and Trump at what appears to be a conference table.
Trump aides have said previously he’s not interested in running for office, but it seems nothing has been ruled out. A handful of Republican legislators, led by Assemb. Bill Nojay (R-Rochester), think Trump should be the GOP candidate to take on Democrat Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. Caputo reportedly set up their meeting with Trump.
There doesn't appear to be any Trump traction, at least for now. State GOP chairman Ed Cox and other Republicans have been talking up Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who recently won re-election. Cox delicately sidestepped Trump questions Wednesday during a radio interview.
“Some people want to talk to Donald Trump and that’s fine,” Cox said.
