Three people, including a pregnant woman and a child, were hospitalized Thursday night after their car went airborne after going out of control, police said, before crashing into a 7-Eleven store building in Brentwood, Suffolk police said.

A four-door sedan was traveling west on the Expressway Drive North service road at an apparently high rate of speed about 8 p.m., police said, when the driver was unable to negotiate the turn at the Motor Parkway intersection, Suffolk police said.

The vehicle went onto the grassy median and after going airborne crashed into the building, police said.

A pregnant passenger in the car was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center by helicopter, police said, and the male driver of the car was taken to that same hospital by ambulance. A female child from the car was taken by ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Information concerning the severity of their injuries was not immediately available.

No one at the 7-Eleven was reported injured, police said.

Suffolk Deputy Sheriffs said they closed off the Long Island Expressway exit 53 westbound after the accident, and that exit was still closed more than 2 hours later.
