Three people who broke into a Deer Park jewelry store Friday morning were arrested when the headlights in their getaway car gave them away, Suffolk police said.

The alarm at Liberty Jewelers on Deer Park Avenue went off at 2:37 a.m., police said.

First Precinct patrol Officer Kathleen Lubey was responding to the alarm when she noticed a 2000 Honda Accord going south on Deer Park Avenue without any headlights on.

She pulled the car over and found the three occupants with the proceeds of their burglary, police said.

The three are scheduled to be arraigned Saturday on third-degree robbery charges: Adrian Roberts, 19, of 305 42nd St., Copiague; Montavious Jackson, 21, of 21 Watkins Terr., North Amityville; and Ciara Young, 22, of 23 Bentley Rd., Amityville.

Detectives described the crime as a "smash and grab" because one of the burglars threw a rock at the jewelry store's door window. They stole about $2,000 in U.S. and foreign coins, a woman's watch and small trinkets, police said.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the burglary to call detectives at 631-854-8152.
