A lesson on recycling and community

Vibrant silk flowers, colorful tissue paper and plastic bottles were the raw materials that Pulaski Road Elementary School kindergarteners used May 1, 2014, to craft flower pots for gifts to those who receive Meals on Wheels. With the project to celebrate Spring and Earth Day, students at the East Northport school also learn about the importance of helping in a community. (Newsday / Jessica Rotkiewicz)
