A 24-year-old Bellport man was killed in an early morning crash Saturday in Brookhaven when the car he was in left the road and overturned, Suffolk County police said.

Willie Davis, 24, of Bellport, was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-car crash, police said. Jasheem Trent, 21, of 808 Narragansett Ave., East Patchogue, was driving the 2006 Infiniti westbound on Montauk Highway when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow line, left the road and overturned at 3:18 a.m., according to police.

Trent was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

He was unconscious Saturday and police were unable to interview him, Det. Sgt. Alan Feinstein said.

"We are really very early into this investigation," Feinstein said. "Right now everything is under investigation."

The accident occurred at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Arthur Avenue, police said. It appeared that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to police, and it does not appear Trent and Davis were wearing seat belts.

The vehicle crossed over the Long Island Rail Road tracks before flipping over.

There was no damage to the tracks, but one train, from Speonk to Jamaica, was canceled, MTA spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said.

Police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact Fifth Squad Detectives at 631-854-8552.
