A Brentwood man was arrested Monday, accused of driving while intoxicated with his 4-year-old child in the car, Suffolk County sheriffs said.

Salvatore Silinonte, 30, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on a felony charge of aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law, which makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive while intoxicated with a child under 16 in the vehicle.

Silinonte was swerving between lanes on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway and was stopped about 12:30 p.m. near the off ramp Exit 58 in Islandia, sheriffs said. He was also speeding, going 60 mph in a 40 mph zone, sheriffs said.

Silinonte's child was in the backseat and his wife was also in the car, sheriffs said, but no one was hurt. County Child Protective Services was notified, sheriffs said, and the child was released to the care of his mother.

Sheriffs also charged the driver with endangering the welfare of a child, failure to maintain a lane and speeding.
