Brightwaters man finds WW1 symbols in basement

When Randy Meyn bought his 1908 Brightwaters home in 1998, he discovered symbols painted on his basement walls. Research discovered they were emblems and insignia from American World War I fighter squadrons, and his home may have hosted a military bar or speakeasy for the nearby Bay Shore naval air station during the 1910s.(Credit: Newsday / Chuck Fadely)
