Suffolk police arrested a Center Moriches middle school teacher who they say was drunk and impaired by drugs when she struck a parked car and drove away from the scene Monday morning.

Tracey Forman, 47, of Waverly Avenue in Patchogue, was being held overnight for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip after she was found Monday in the parking lot of Center Moriches High School on Frowein Road, Suffolk police said.

Neither Forman's attorney nor school district officials could be reached for comment.

A Suffolk police officer responded to the scene of an 8:30 a.m. crash on Brookfield Avenue, just over a mile away from the high school.

Witnesses said a car sideswiped a parked Plymouth Voyager and the officer searched the area with their description of the car.

He found a 2013 Hyundai in the parking lot of the high school.

Forman was near the car, police said, adding that she submitted to a Breathalyzer test.

Forman is charged with driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

It was unclear what drugs she was using at the time but toxicology tests are pending, police said.
