Suffolk police and firefighters were called to an unlikely place for a driver in distress Wednesday night — a Chuck E. Cheese in West Islip where a 4-year-old boy had gotten stuck in one of the indoor amusement outlet’s car racing games.
“His leg was stuck in one of the events they have,” said EMS Chief John McAuley of the West Islip Fire Department, who added that firefighters were able to maneuver the boy’s leg and extricate him from the car simulation game shortly after being called to the scene at 8:26 p.m.
“A couple twists and they were able to get him out,” he said.
Officials from the Chuck E. Cheese store, located at 155 Sunrise Hwy., could not be reached for comment.
McAuley said the boy was relieved to be freed and that he and his parents declined medical treatment.
“He seemed pretty happy,” McAuley said, adding that the whole incident was over in about 10 minutes. “He was O.K.”
