Suffolk County police are investigating two separate shots-fired reports Tuesday night, but said no arrests have been made -- though at least one person was struck by gunfire.
One of the reported incidents was in Deer Park, the other in North Bellport.
Suffolk County police said that, in the first incident, an "unknown female" called 911 after 10 p.m. to report someone had been shot on Skidmores Road near Bay Shore Road in Deer Park. Police said the caller hung up before they could get additional information.
Police said responding officers learned a man had been shot and that the victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with "non-life-threatening" injuries.
The second incident was reported at 11:35 p.m. on Post Avenue in North Bellport. In that case, police said responding investigators confirmed shots had been fired -- and said they recovered shell casings.
But, police said, the shooter -- and an intended victim -- both fled the scene. Police said they were unable to locate a victim during a search of area hospitals and found no evidence at the scene to indicate anyone had been struck by gunfire.
Police did say that witnesses told investigators the intended victim was a male standing next to a white van that fled the scene. Police said the shots-fired call was the result of a ShotSpotter activation.
Police said the investigations into both shots-fired incident is continuing on Wednesday.
