An East Patchogue woman was killed Wednesday after a collision with a driver who Suffolk police said was impaired by drugs.

Camille Ricciardo, 71, was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Classic east on Gazzola Drive in East Patchogue when her car was hit at about 5:45 p.m. by a 2006 Chevrolet commercial pickup truck that was traveling south on Sills Road, according to a police report.

She was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the truck, Justin Klein, 23, of Medford, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police didn't disclose substances found on Klein.

He was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

Klein will be held overnight at Suffolk's Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.

Sills Road remained closed as of 10 p.m. in both directions from Hospital Road to Sunrise Highway, and there was no immediate indication when the road will reopen, police said.
