A Setauket man, interrupted during an early Monday morning burglary of a Stony Brook home, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, Suffolk County police said.
Christopher Touch, 54, was discovered hiding in a stairwell with property from the home in his possession, police said.
The residents of the Hillside Road home had been out, returned at 2:05 a.m. and called 911 when they saw a door open and items inside in disarray, police said. Sixth Precinct Officer Linda Lollo responded and found the suspect, police said.
Touch was to be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
