Suffolk County police have determined the car in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in August is a white 1999 to 2006 Hyundai sedan.
Police said Friday the Vehicular Crimes Unit is looking for help in finding the car that struck and killed Joseph Santiago, 47, of Setauket, at about 1:20 a.m. Aug. 23.
The car possibly sustained damage on the lower front-end passenger side and on the undercarriage, police said.
Santiago's body was discovered by a utility worker driving west on Ridgeway Avenue in Setauket and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Det. Sgt. Jim Madden of the Vehicular Crimes Unit said in August that investigators believed Santiago had been hit not long before he was discovered, because the road is a fairly well-traveled cut-through.
