Cops: Center Moriches bank robbed

A Center Moriches bank was robbed Friday afternoon by a man who entered the building and demanded cash, Suffolk County police said.

Authorities were called to the Capitol Bank, at 500 Main St., at 12:37 p.m.

Police say the man approached a teller and showed a note demanding cash. The teller complied, giving the suspect cash from the drawer. It wasn't immediately known how much money the suspect got away with as he fled on foot.

The robber is believed to be 35 to 40 years old, and stands 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 with a thin build. He was wearing light-colored jeans, a black jacket, sunglasses and a blue hat with white stripes, police said.
