Cops: Central Islip man arrested in beer bottle stabbing

A Central Islip man was arrested early Monday and charged with stabbing another man with a broken beer bottle, leaving the victim critically injured, Suffolk County police said.

Reginald Bonelli, 29, of Powell Avenue, stabbed a 23-year-old man in the neck with a broken beer bottle during a "physical altercation" at the home of a mutual friend on Powell Avenue in Central Islip, police said. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m., police said.

Police said the victim, who also lives in Central Islip, suffered "a severe laceration" to his neck and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance.

The victim, whose identity was not release, was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police said Bonelli was charged with second-degree assault and is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
