Cops: Graffiti at mosque, school may be related
Graffiti vandalism on buildings at a Bay Shore elementary school may have been done by the same person or people responsible for spray painting exterior walls at a mosque in North Bay Shore, police said Tuesday.
At least one person spray-painted graffiti on several buildings at the Fifth Avenue Elementary School, 217 Fifth Ave., between Sept. 12 and 13, Suffolk police said.
That graffiti has similar characteristics to those found at the Masjid Darul Quran mosque, 1514 East Third Ave., police said, and both were done about same time.
At the mosque, the phrases "RIP US Ambassador" and "The War Will Rise" were painted. Information as to what was painted at the school were not made available.
Detectives asked that anyone with information concerning either incident call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
