Police responding to a late-night 911 call Sunday found a seriously injured man alongside a road in West Babylon near the entrance to the Southern State Parkway -- and investigators are trying to determine how he got there.
The man, whose identity was not released, does not appear to be the victim of a hit-and-run, Suffolk County police said Monday. Police said they are trying to determine if the man "fell" from a moving vehicle.
Police said the 911 call reporting the incident on Belmont Avenue was received at 10:12 p.m. Responding officers found the man on Belmont near the entrance to the parkway.
The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where police said he is in serious condition on Monday. The case is being handled by the vehicular crime unit. Additional details were not available.
