A fire in the boys' gym locker room at Riverhead High School caused minor damage to one locker and its contents Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Riverhead Town police said the fire occurred at about 4 p.m. and that officers and volunteers from the Riverhead Fire Department responded.

Police said the locker "had been set on fire" but said the damage was minimal.

It was not clear if contents of the locker were destroyed -- and police said a suspect has not been arrested.

The case is under investigation by the Suffolk County police Arson Squad, police said.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Riverhead police at 631-727-4500, ext. 332.
