Cops: Man attacked girlfriend in Laurel

A Shirley man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Laurel after he attacked his girlfriend at a gas station and then attempted to wrestle a gun from the police officer attempting to subdue him, police said.

The Southold Town police officer, with the help of a witness, was able to gain control of the situation -- and arrest Jordan M. Gormez, 24, police said.
