A Centereach man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after he crashed into a car storage lot in Nesconset early Tuesday, damaging several cars and sparking a fire in his own vehicle, police said.
Suffolk County police said the driver, identified as Michael Herlihy, 24, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated.
He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
Police said Herlihy lost control of the Chevrolet he was driving on Middle Country Road at 1:13 a.m., crashing into the lot used by Smithtown Chrysler to store vehicles.
It was not clear how many vehicles were damaged.
Police said Herlihy, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was not injured in the crash.
