A shoplifter running away from a Lindenhurst drugstore was hit by an SUV while trying to cross Sunrise Highway near Allegheny Avenue yesterday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Douglas Redmond, 28, of 3rd Avenue, Central Islip, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with a fractured leg and charged with petit larceny, police said.

Police said employees spotted Redmond taking hair products and cosmetics from the Rite Aid at 600 North Wellwood Ave.

He fled, making it part of the way across Sunrise Hwy. before being struck by a 2010 Ford Explorer driven by a 60-year-old grandmother from West Babylon.

She and her 3-year-old granddaughter, who was with her at the time, were also taken to Good Samaritan, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Redmond is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
