A man who jumped onto the westbound Long Island Expressway from an overpass Friday survived the leap, suffering a fractured femur and pelvis, police said.

The man, apparently attempting suicide, leaped from the Washington Avenue overpass in Brentwood at 10:52 a.m., landing in one of the westbound lanes of the LIE, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said.
