A 68-year-old man was struck by a car and killed as he attempted to cross a road in Brentwood late Sunday, Suffolk County police said.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the driver of the car, identified only as a 25-year-old Brentwood man, was not injured. He was not charged.

The fatal accident occurred on Suffolk Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Willoughby Street at 10:25 p.m. Police said the victim was struck by a 2014 Nissan Versa as he attempted to cross Suffolk Avenue from the north side of the street to the south side.

He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.
