Suffolk County police are investigating two reported instances of drivers following middle school students near a Deer Park school, a department spokeswoman said yesterday.
The Deer Park School District reported the separate incidents on Thursday and Friday near Robert Frost Middle School, 450 Half Hollow Rd., to police and posted community safety alerts for parents on its website.
A school district spokeswoman did not return a call seeking comment.
On Thursday, a girl walking to a bus stop near Washington Avenue and Hickory Street saw a person in a red or maroon car driving slowly, the district reported.
Police said the girl thought the car was following her. She went back to her house and later went to school, police said.
At about 3 p.m. Friday, near Headline Road and Sunburst Drive, a girl walking to a bus stop also reported a slow-driving car, a four-door black sedan with two people inside. The car drove slowly behind her and then it sped away, police said.
The school reported each instance to police. Individuals in the cars made no attempts to communicate with the girls, police said.
