Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who they said knocked down a utility pole in a crash Wednesday morning in North Great River, then fled the scene on foot.
The accident occurred at 4:26 a.m. on Connetquot Avenue at Floral Park Street.
Suffolk County police said a responding officer suffered minor injuries when that officer's patrol unit crashed into the downed utility pole....
