Cops seek suspect in Wyandanch rock attack

Police are searching for an assailant who struck a man in the head with a rock early Wednesday in Wyandanch.

Suffolk County police said the suspect was identified only by the street name "Bopp."

According to police accounts, the suspect struck a man in the head with a rock at a Getty gas station on Straight Path at 12:19 a.m. Police said the attack caused "swelling and pain," and the victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries.

A canine unit was sent to search for the suspect, with no results, police said.
