Calabrese was bicycling south on South Wellwood when he hit the westbound vehicle operated by Timothy O'Connell, 44, of Lindenhurst. O'Connell and three passengers inside that vehicle were not injured.

First Squad detectives asked that anyone who witnessed the crash call them at 631-854-8152, or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.

An earlier versioni of this story stated that the vehicle hit the bicyclist. In a news release late Wednesday, police said that the bicycle struck the vehicle.
