Cops: Woman charged in BB gun shootings of car windows

Suffolk police say an East Northport mom encouraged her teenage kids to shoot out car windows with a BB gun. Susan Becker, 43, bought the pellet gun and had her 15-year-old daughter, 13-year-old son and another teen fire it as she drove, cops said. Becker was arraigned Saturday on charges including criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. Videojournalist: Network News Long Island (April 20, 2013)

An East Northport woman was behind the drive-by BB gun shootings that left more than 60 broken car windows in Islandia, Hauppauge and Commack over the past two weeks, Suffolk County police said early Saturday morning.

Police on Friday charged Susan Becker, 43, with 10 counts of criminal mischief and 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child after they said she drove with her 13-year-old son, 15-year-old daughter and another 15-year-old boy and encouraged them to shoot out the windows of parked cars with a BB gun she had bought for them.

The children were released to a relative, said Sgt. Jack Mangum of the 4th Precinct Crime Section.
