The grieving father of a Brentwood man killed by a Long Island Rail Road train said Wednesday he believes his son may have been taking a shortcut to get home when he was struck west of the Brentwood station.

Jamel Wilson, 26, had a job interview with the Suffolk County Department of Social Services in Deer Park on Tuesday, said father James P. Wilson, 52, of Brentwood.
