Debris closes LIE service road westbound in Suffolk
Northville Industries was doing a pressurized water test on otherwise empty fuel lines when something burst at about 8:30 p.m., damaging about six vehicles, police said. The temporary break spread water and debris primarily to the area north of the LIE service road near Exit 57, police said. No one was injured, police said.
The westbound LIE, which was closed at about 8:30 p.m., reopened about 11 p.m., police said, but the service road remained closed. Officials at that time did not estimate when that road would reopen.
