Driver loses control out of driveway, child hurt

A driver backing out of a Brentwood driveway lost control and plowed into a house Thursday afternoon, sending a child passenger to the hospital, Suffolk police said.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman in a Honda Odyssey van, was leaving from a Gibson Avenue property about 4:30 p.m. when she crashed into a house on Nolin Street, police said. Gibson Avenue and Nolin Street have a T-shaped intersection, police said.

A 5-year-old boy in the van was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was treated for minor injuries, police said. No one else was injured in the crash.
