Police said Bennett was arrested after a two-month investigation involving detectives from the East Hampton Town Police Department, NYPD, Southampton Town Police Department and Sag Harbor Village Police Department, according to a news release.

The investigation, based on witness descriptions, pointed toward a suspect driving a dark-colored sedan. Also, New York City police were able to recover a significant amount of stolen jewelry, the release said.

The burglaries were committed between January and October 2013, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.
