Two motorists were sent to the hospital after a crash that shut down eastbound Route 347 in Smithtown for about four hours Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.

The driver of a Subaru sedan, Caitlin O’Reilly, 30, of Farmingville was switching from the center lane to the right lane at about 5:40 p.m. when her car collided with a motorcycle in the right lane, police said.

The motorcyclist, Michael Lacorte, 29, of Farmingville, crashed into the back of the sedan, police said, and he was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

O’Reilly had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

The car and motorcycle were impounded for safety checks. No criminality was involved, police said.

Route 347 reopened about 9:30 p.m., authorities said.
