Four men who beat and burglarized a man in his Bayport home Tuesday afternoon were arrested about 30 minutes later, Suffolk police said.

Police said about 12:25 p.m., two of the burglars confronted a man inside his Bayview Avenue home, and assaulted him, stealing cash and jewelry from the house.

Once they left the house, the victim ran to a neighbor's home and tried to follow the suspects, who got into a white Honda waiting for them on Connetquot Road. They drove off.

The victim called police and gave a description of the car and the suspects, and Highway Patrol Officers Matthew DeWitt and John Hnatt spotted the car on westbound Sunrise Highway in Bohemia about 12:55 p.m., and stopped the vehicle.

The four suspects inside the vehicle -- Ramone Beauford, 18, of Bayport; Javier Gonzalez, 17, of Brentwood; Osman Flores, 20, of Central Islip; and Nelson Vanegas, 19, of Brentwood, were charged with first-degree burglary, police said. They are being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

The male victim went to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue with nonlife-threatening face and body injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
