The state transportation department is advising motorists that beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, part of Creek Road in Halesite will be closed around-the-clock to all vehicles except local traffic for about a week.
The portion of the road affected is between Hill Place and Route 110. All vehicles except local traffic will be detoured to Hill Place, the department said in a news release.
After the weeklong closure, Creek Road will operate only as a northbound one-way street around-the-clock for about three months, the department said. Southbound Creek Road traffic will be detoured to Hill Place along Route 110.
The department warned there may be occasional full closures of Creek Road required between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays during that time, depending on construction needs.
The news release indicated that the closures are part of the ongoing $18 million state Transportation Department drainage and safety improvement project.
