The Thanksgiving turkey is in the freezer. It will remain there, Russell J. Hayes said Tuesday, until the day his son Michael can come home from the hospital and share the meal with his mother, Nancy, brother, James and sister, Angela.

"We'll wait for that day," the elder Hayes said Tuesday. "That turkey's going to taste real good."
