Traffic signal boxes in downtown Huntington are about to get adorned with art.

The Huntington Town Board gave the green light to the town supervisor to enter into agreements with the New York State Department of Transportation and five artists to have artwork placed on five traffic signal boxes on Main Street.

The Huntington Village Business Improvement District will pick up the $8,500 tab for the design and installations.

In 2015, the board approved the same project for five traffic signal boxes in various locations across the downtown.

Some of the images include “Sunrise on Huntington Bay,” “Treescape” and “Shopping Bag of Plenty.”

This year the proposed artwork includes scenes featuring books, flowers, bumblebees and the Centerport Channel.

The measure was approved 5-0 at the February town board meeting.
