Huntington preservationists eye historic site for park
A state historical marker at the corner of Route 25A and Park Avenue in Huntington announces the site was once home to Platt's Tavern - which, during the Revolutionary War, was the place to be.
"It was one of the early buildings in town," said Robert C. Hughes, Huntington Town historian and a member of the preservation group Old Huntington Green. "It's where everyone came to get the news."
