A 10-month-old girl died early Sunday of injuries she suffered when she and her pregnant mother, who was pushing her stroller, were hit by a pickup Saturday evening while crossing Route 110 in North Amityville, Suffolk County police said.

Suffolk First Squad detectives were investigating the crash that fatally injured Britney Arevalo as she and her mother, Yancy Arevalo, 29, crossed Route 110 eastbound in North Amityville just south of Nathalie Avenue, police said. The two were struck about 7 p.m. by a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling north on Route 110, police said.

Arevalo, of Amityville, and her daughter were taken by North Amityville Rescue Squad to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where the infant died of her injuries at 1:46 a.m., police said. Her mother had minor injuries but was held for observation before being released.
