Cops: High Jamesport man flips 3-wheel motorcycle

A Jamesport man was high on drugs when he flipped an unregistered and uninsured three-wheeled motorcycle during a chase by officers late Tuesday, Riverhead Town police said.

James P. Lebkuecher, 42, also resisted arrest, took an officer's radio and attempted to take an officer's handgun, police said in a news release.

Lebkuecher is charged with driving while his ability was impaired by drugs, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, robbery and several vehicle and traffic violations.

His arraignment information was not immediately available.

Police responded to a call of an intoxicated man driving a quad on Washington Avenue in Jamesport at about 11:42 p.m.

When they arrived, officers attempted to stop Lebkuecher, but he refused to pull over, the release said.

He drove from Washington Avenue across Route 25 and then flipped the vehicle after turning onto Herricks Lane, police said.

Police said the vehicle was impounded.
