Large bird on loose caught

Suffolk County police fished a large bird -- possibly an ostrich or an emu -- out of the water after it was reported running loose Monday morning on East Riviera Drive in Copiague. The bird weighed about 200 to 250 pounds, according to a police spokeswoman, and it was collared in a nearby waterway shortly after noon. Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA said the bird was an emu, and will probably be returned to its owner, who lives in the area. Videojournalist: Paul Mazza (May 27, 2013)
