Cops: Leander Kobolakis of East Hampton charged in rape of 16-year-old girl

An East Hampton man was arrested on a rape charge Friday, East Hampton police said.

Leander Kobolakis, 21, of 5 Neighborhood House Dr., was charged with third-degree rape, third-degree performance of a criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child, said Det. Sgt. Greg Schaefer of the town police department.

Kobolakis was charged in the rape of a 16-year-old girl, Schaefer said.

The incident, which happened some time Thursday or Friday, was reported by the girl's father early Friday, Schaefer said.

Kobolakis was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Friday and was scheduled for arraignment Saturday at East Hampton Town Justice Court.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information can call town police at 631-537-7575.
